As a Senior at Brashier, we have to take senior project, which sounds like a death sentence. The universal dread that is associated with this class pretty much turns off everyone from the get go. By this, I mean that most people seem to have a preconceived notion that senior project is going to be terrible and the worst part of their senior year. In reality, it isn’t that bad…
But it still sucks. From the first day of school you are expected to have a pretty good idea of what your project is going to be. Throughout the first month we have to prepare for a presentation that decides whether our project is viable or not. That is already stressful enough.
For the rest of the first semester, we’re mainly focused on getting all of the paperwork done, while still finding time to actually produce the product. It seems like everyone is inevitably going to get behind in this stage, whether it is from procrastinating or underestimating the scope of their project. Now that we are halfway through with the year it is getting kind of stressful to realize that products are due in less than three months.
Through all of this, the biggest thing to remember is the reason you chose your project. There is a good chance that we all chose a project because it sparked our interest in one way or another. This is what needs to drive us to finish the year strong and not let the stress of it all ruin our senior year.
We can do this.
