I swear that the smaller the school, the bigger the problems. Let’s take dating a peer as our example. Dating is a great thing, especially when it works out because you have a partner by your side to support and encourage you (if you’re me you just have some really awesome best friends..shout out to my girls). But that all changes when the relationship ends. The first being you will see your Ex in the hallways all the time and the second being news generally travels fast in high school, but even faster in a smaller school.

The amount of discomfort and heart ache when you see your Ex in the hallway are constant problems; thank you small schools. Besides having to see the person that wounded your heart everyday, you have to deal with the people around you as well. Everyone knows the relationship is over and all your peers stare at you and then back at him. It literally feels like a corny, slow motion scene from an 80s film. There really isn’t a way out of that situation because the hallways are small and there aren’t huge crowds of people you can hide behind like you’re wishing you could.

But Going to a small school isn’t all bad because you will make a few close friends that will last a lifetime. I’m not sure if that really happens very often in a big public High schools. Having close friends helps so many ways in highschool. They are there for you all time whether it’s helping you avoid an Ex or helping you solve an algebra problem you know they are always close by.
