There are about seven billion people living on the Earth. Now, take a moment and think about all the people you know or even the people you see around. Have you ever stopped to make conversation with them or compliment them randomly? I do, and I do it because I value meeting new people and having genuine conversations. My generation has stopped communicating person to person, and we have become socially awkward when we have real conversations. However, if we are texting and snapchatting, we have no problems.

I refuse to get grouped into my generation’s stereotype about us being “antisocial”.  According to CNN, teens spend about 9 hours each day on social media alone. That isn’t even including texting or playing games on their phones. That is a lot of time essential wasted that teenagers could have been doing something active. This is important because the lack of face to face conversations will hurt us in life. When we go for interview for jobs, colleges, or even just doing presenting a project.

Having a conversation with a real person is beneficial in so many ways. Not only will it help you in school and in your career, but it allows for a healthy and strong relationship to form. It is important that we know what a healthy relationship is and i’m not sure many teenagers know what they are because we are glued to our phones which replace all our real friends.
