It was just a normal Friday night around 11 p.m. I was cuddled up with my dog on the couch binging my favorite shows on Netflix. Suddenly, the actress in the show stared  directly into the camera. She started to talk about how cute my dog is.

“Are you talking to me?” I whispered panickedly.

“Hunny, can you speak up? I can’t hear what you said,” she said.

“Is this a prank? What’s going on?”

“Don’t worry hunny. We’ve been able to see you this entire time.”

I sat up fast and tried to exit out of Netflix to get her to go away. When I looked back at her she had a smile almost ear to ear. My cursor would not move or let me do anything. My computer began to glitch and everything went black after I covered up the camera.

“Show your face,” she said angrily. I uncovered the camera in fear of her voice and she was back, this time her smile was literally from ear to ear. “Don’t leave again, or you’ll regret it.”

That was the final straw. I gave up on trying to get out of Netflix and threw my computer out of anger. Thinking nothing would really happen, I went to sleep without a worry. At 3 a.m., I was awakened by the sound of my dog barking up the stairs. When I got up, all I heard was the whimpering of my Great Dane in pain.

“Who’s there?” I said as I slid into the hallway flipping the light on.

I saw a shadow sneak into the guest bedroom pushing my dog in there along with it. The lights were flickering and my dog was no longer whining. He was completely silent. The realization hit me that my dog was gone and I was left to defend myself.

All the lights quit flickering and there was not a sound. I began to sneak around the house searching for the person.

“I told you you’d regret it,” the same voice from Netflix said as the lights went out.
