Most everybody has a favorite sports team. Some just cheer and others go all out, sporting team apparel everyday of the week. Students at Brashier get really into their sports especially during football season.

Most people in our school either root for the Clemson Tigers or the Carolina Gamecocks. Others like teams from other states.

“My favorite team is Clemson obviously,”says Junior Brandon Sewell. “Clemson University’s football team [is my favorite],” said Junior Macie Southern. “North Carolina Tarheels [are my favorite],” said Junior Hallie Fite.

Some people believe that what they do before a game can help the team win. Some people eat the same food before each game, do a special cheer, or wear their favorite jersey.

“I was given a chip, a poker-like chip with a Tiger paw on one side and the saying ‘All in’ on the other. Every team member puts the chip in a bucket at the beginning of the game to say they will give 110%. I place my chip somewhere near the TV,” says Junior Macie Southern.

Football games don’t get rained or snowed out usually. Fans still go to the games  cheering loud as ever.

“The craziest thing I’ve ever done is go to Tennessee to watch Clemson play a bowl game in the snow,” says Sewell.

Going to the game and watching from home are two totally different experiences.

“ I only get to go to a few games each season,” says Southern, “but I watch all of the rest of them from home.”

People love their teams so much that they have all things team related; clothes, flags, car stickers or even decked out cars.

“I have everything Clemson themed, from socks to gloves to shorts.” says Sewell. “The coolest memorabilia that I have is a basketball signed by the head coach of the North Carolina men’s basketball team,” says Fite.

One of the most challenging things in being a sports fan is dealing with losses as well as wins.

“I’m indifferent when my team loses, I’m not happy or sad, I just have mixed emotions.” says Sewell. “You can’t help whether the team wins or loses, but you can cheer, give all the support you can, and in the end, that is all that matters.”

I love Clemson, but I was upset they did not win the national championship this year.
