There is nothing more joyous to a high school student than spirit week, but there is one group of students who ride the bandwagon of spirit events and raising money to overpower their rival of years before. Who am I referring to?…Seniors. Seniors are the wolfpack of the wild, the top of the food chain, and ultimately the most excited and enthusiastic for such a monumental week.

Twenty five Seniors were asked, “On a scale from one to ten, how important is the Spirit Week Homecoming Game against Greer Middle College to you?” As you can see, ten was the highest number and that shows that many seniors at Brashier have strong school spirit.

More specifically, two monumental seniors on the Brashier varsity basketball teams, Austin Evers and Elizabeth Cook, have contributed so many attributes to the girls and guys teams, making the Spirit Week game successful.

“The spirit week game against Greer Middle College, also known as the most anticipated night for a basketball player because it is one of the few times the whole school gets together to root on the team,” says Evers.

While almost everybody at the schools anticipates the Spirit Week Game, some seniors fear losing their final homecoming game.

“It’s my senior year and [the spirit week games] have been  back and forth, win-lose routine all four years. I’m excited for the game because we came so close to winning the first time and we just did not deserve that loss in the end,” says Cook.

In the particular community of Brashier, the basketball homecoming games are a huge deal and seniors would expect for everyone to be ecstatic for it.

“I believe that a lot of the students at Brashier feel as if Brashier Middle College is the better school, so I think most of the students are looking forward to the ‘The Battle of the Middle Colleges,’”says Evers.

Along with school spirit, each team has a certain pride that powers through the hearts and minds of each player, especially the seniors.

“This is the biggest game of the season for us and we have such a great team,” says Cook.

Brashier is one place where every athlete feels appreciated for the work they have accomplished.

“Brashier has such a fan base that anyone can feel as if they belong, due to the momentous, animated, vigorous crowd that stands at the basis of it all,” says Evers.
